Dear Colleagues,
I write to let you know that Mark Henderson, Chief Information Officer, has accepted a new position as Chief Information Officer and Vice Chancellor for the University of Pittsburgh. He will begin this new role in early June.
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a world-class institution that for decades has been leading the way in how we use information and technology to benefit our faculty, staff and students. Mark’s seasoned expertise and passion for innovation through information and technology have been pivotal to our continued success in advancing this vision.
During his tenure, Mark made sure Illinois was challenged to think creatively about the IT services we must provide, not only to our campus community, but also across the state and the nation, faithful to our mission as a land-grant research university. The innovations, infrastructure, services and partnerships that Mark helped developed will serve us well as the foundation and inspiration for the future of IT at Illinois. We are grateful for his time with us. I hope you will join me in thanking Mark for his nearly five years of dedicated service.
I will be working with Mark and his leadership team to ensure a smooth transition as he moves to his new role. We will work to identify an Interim Chief Information Officer as soon as possible, and I will be sure to notify the campus when that announcement is made.
