Dear colleagues,
We are very excited to share the news of a new University of Illinois System shuttle service that will be launching this fall.
In its inaugural form, the service will connect the Urbana-Champaign and Chicago universities with several daily round trips, Monday through Friday. The goal of the service is to encourage and facilitate the growing collaborative efforts between our universities, as well as to provide a convenient, comfortable and efficient mode of transportation for university personnel.
Each of the four shuttles will offer features such as onboard Wi-Fi and work stations, supporting efficient use of work time that also will mitigate travel fatigue for those who make such trips on a regular basis. The new service also will reduce the number of vehicles on the road for university-related business.
A survey will go out soon to seek input from faculty and staff who routinely travel between our universities for business. Responses will be used to help create the best service possible.
Depending upon user demand, the service could be expanded to include additional runs as well as routes to and from Springfield. As we approach the launch this fall, you will receive more information about the service.
If you or your staff receive the ridership survey, thank you in advance for participating and providing your valuable feedback.
Sincerely,
Tim Killeen
