Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Sara MacKenzie has been selected as the Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her appointment will begin July 1, 2024, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.
Sara currently serves as Director of Operations in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at North Carolina State University, a position she has held since 2017. Prior to that, she served in various recruitment roles in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for 14 years. She earned a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource development from the University of Minnesota.
With over 20 years of undergraduate admissions experience at large, public flagship land-grant universities, Sara’s knowledge and experience make her a strong match for this role in undergraduate admissions at Illinois. She has worked on both the operations/processing and recruitment/outreach sides of an admissions office and has experience leveraging technology to improve admission processes.
I want to thank the search committee for their thoughtful work throughout the entire search process and Doug Burgett for serving as Interim Director of Undergraduate Admissions since last August. I also want to thank the entire Office of Undergraduate Admissions for their service year after year, and especially thank and recognize them for their extraordinary efforts addressing the many challenges that have occurred during this year’s admission cycle.
Please join me in congratulating Sara MacKenzie on her new role and welcoming her to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign!
Sincerely,
Dan Mann
Associate Provost for Enrollment Management
