Dear Colleagues,
I write to announce that William Sullivan, Professor and Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture, has been named the university’s first Smart Campus Initiative Director. Professor Sullivan has been a member of the faculty at Illinois for more than 25 years, and I am pleased to see him take on this new role.
The Smart Campus Initiative will bring together expertise and capabilities from across the university to conceptualize a bold vision and initiate the process for our campus to become the incubator and testbed for the inclusive, safe, just, healthy and sustainable communities of the future.
Professor Sullivan began this three-year appointment on May 16, 2019, pending approval by the Board of Trustees. I hope you will join me in congratulating and thanking him for using his talents to advance Illinois.
