Dear Colleagues,
At Illinois, we value the importance of protecting the University and its community against privacy and cybersecurity threats. Investing in IT security not only reduces risk but enables us to be the pre-eminent public research university with a land-grant mission and global impact.
Given this importance, we are reaffirming our commitment by making a carefully staged, multi-year set of strategic investments in our Privacy and Security Program resulting in an additional cost of $12.5 million in our annual operating budget by FY24. In partnership with the Office of the Chief Information Officer and under the leadership of the Chief Privacy & Security Officer, we are committed to maturing this program.
This investment is part of a multi-year journey, and we must all work together for it to be successful. We will work with all units to implement the best technology and services in the most responsible and cost-effective way. More details will be forthcoming on both the plan and how the community can become involved.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Jones
