Dear Deans, Directors, and Department Heads/Chairs:
Under President Killeen’s leadership, the University of Illinois System is pleased to announce the establishment of a first-ever award to recognize individuals who have played a significant role in advocating for our universities. Individuals can be current or former elected officials, legislative staff, alumni or others who have strongly promoted the U of I System and the power of higher education in the state. Employees of the U of I System are not eligible. The University of Illinois System Advocacy Award will be presented annually, honoring an individual or individuals with a history of going above-and-beyond to champion state support for our universities, our scholarly research, our academic and outreach programs, and/or our students.
We are seeking your nominations for the inaugural 2020 award, which we hope to present at the U of I System’s annual Day at the Capitol next February in Springfield.
Please submit your nominations, including a brief rationale, via this Webtools form by December 4. A winner or winners will be chosen in January by a selection committee composed of the U of I System president, executive vice president, and staff of the Office of Governmental Relations, with final approval by the chair of the U of I Board of Trustees.
Thank you in advance for making this new award program a success. If you have any questions, please contact me at 217-333-1086 or via email at jcreasey@uillinois.edu.
Sincerely,
Jennifer
