RE: Illinois Minimum Wage Increase Effective 1/1/20
The Illinois minimum wage will increase to $9.25 per hour on January 1, 2020. Please share this with your hiring managers or others with personnel responsibilities in your area.
The hourly rate for all hourly-paid employees who currently earn less than $9.25 per hour will be updated by an automated program; these employees will begin earning the new minimum wage for any work hours reported on and after January 1, 2020. New hourly-paid jobs starting 1/1/20 or later should be added to HRFE with an hourly rate of at least $9.25.
In most cases, no action will be required by your departments/units. You will be notified if manual corrections are needed. Departments will need to monitor and adjust work hours for students with Federal Work Study to ensure the maximum allowable earnings are not exceeded.
