Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to inform you that the University has modified the eligibility requirements for emeritus status to include faculty in the Teaching Professorial track. Footnote 1 of Communication #12 now reads:
According to University of Illinois policy, faculty includes (a) those in the professorial ranks, i.e., professors and associate professors; (b) research, teaching, and clinical faculty; and (c) teaching associates of University High School.
Since this title was previously not available to deserving faculty who retired, we will be glad to entertain applications, following the process outlined in Communication #12, for any faculty who have retired at the rank Teaching Associate Professor or Teaching Professor, provided that they meet the requirements for the title established by their units.
Provost’s Communication #12 as well as the sample memo request and transmittal form are now available on the Provost’s website.
Sincerely,
Andreas C. Cangellaris
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost
