I am pleased to announce that Lisa Power, following an internal search, who currently serves as the Assistant Campus Legal Counsel at Urbana-Champaign, will be assuming the position of Campus Legal Counsel as I continue to transition to the role of Deputy University Counsel.
Lisa’s record of accomplishments, significant skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others are well recognized. Lisa joined our office in 2007 as Associate University Counsel before assuming the role of Senior Associate University Counsel in 2012 and Assistant Campus Legal Counsel in 2014. She first joined the University in 2006 as Assistant Director in the Office of Sponsored Programs. Prior to joining the University, Lisa worked as an attorney for Carle Clinic Association and in private practice. Lisa has broad legal experience in litigation, civil appeals, healthcare, regulatory, compliance, municipal law, sponsored research, complex transactions, international matters, corporate governance, communications and more.
I am confident that you will find Lisa’s years of experience here at the University and her demonstrated ability to work effectively with others to be of great value. Lisa and I have already begun the transition process. Obviously, there may be additional complexities related to that transition because of our current challenging circumstances, so we ask your patience during the coming weeks.
Lisa will serve as Interim Campus Legal Counsel pending consideration by the Board of Trustees at its next meeting, whenever that occurs. Once approved, the “Interim” will be removed from the title effective the next business Monday, per System HR practices.
Please join me in welcoming Lisa Power to this new role.
