Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to announce that the Provost’s Office will be implementing Interfolio’s Review, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) program this spring to replace our current Promotion and Tenure administration system. Over the past year, we have worked with Interfolio to integrate our campus process with their web-based application to help improve the supports we provide to our faculty members and unit leaders and staff. We have also been working with each of the colleges to appoint and train an RPT coordinator who will serve as the local support for their respective unit. Tenure track faculty members going up for promotion and tenure in the 2022-2023 cycle will be the first cohort to go through this new system.
Access to Interfolio RPT:
All current Dean, Department Heads and Chairs, School Directors, and College Administrative Staff will automatically receive an Interfolio account. Each college will be responsible for granting access to RPT to members of their P&T committees, particularly those involved with the 2022-2023 P&T process as well as approved department staff members.
RPT Training (by invitation only):
This Spring semester, we will be offering two types of training sessions on how to use the RPT system on our campus:
- Administrator training – for deans, department heads and chairs, and staff members who assist with the P&T process. It is important that those who currently assist with promotion and tenure attend one of the scheduled training sessions.
- Faculty training - open only to faculty members who are going through the P&T process in the 2022-2023 cycle. Additional training sessions for all other faculty members will be announced later.
Our office will work closely with each college to identify the administrators, staff, and faculty members to invite to attend one of the upcoming Interfolio training sessions.
Additional resources:
The Provost’s Office will be setting up open lab hours and a virtual Interfolio Help Desk to provide individualized supports to faculty members and administrative staff. Additional information, resources, and updates on Interfolio@Illinois will be provided at the training sessions. You may also send us your questions or comments by email at Interfolio@Illinois.edu.
Finally, for queries and information regarding the recent changes to Provost Communication #9: Promotion and Tenure, please see the message that was sent on February 18th.
Best regards,
Bill Bernhard
Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
