Dear Colleagues,
I’m writing to share revisions to Provost Communication #9: Promotion and Tenure. Later this afternoon I will send this email message to all tenure-track faculty explaining the process to making revisions and the specifics of each new section.
As you know, we have been working on these changes to Promotion and Tenure for some time in deep consultation and collaboration from individuals across campus. We created three task forces: General Promotion and Tenure Process led by Eva Pomerantz; Public Engagement and Faculty led by Eva Pomerantz; and Evaluating Teaching Effectiveness led by Amy Ando. We also consulted with several stakeholder groups throughout the process including: Council of Deans, Colleges at the dean’s request, Provost’s Coffee, Academic Senate, Unit Executive Officers and Academic Leadership Series, Campus P&T Committee and former members, Humanities Council, DRIVE Committee, Executive Women Conversation Group, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and we made the topic available on the website for general feedback and questions.
The changes made to Provost Communication #9: Promotion and Tenure more specifically and strategically align this process with our university values and mission. Thank you for your support as we work to implement these changes to advance our university.
Sincerely,
Andreas C. Cangellaris
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost
