Dear Colleagues,
As you know, John Coleman serves as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost. Effective July 16, his new title will be Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost to clarify he is the second ranking university officer at Illinois. Until Board of Trustees approval, his title will be Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost Designate.
This change aligns his title with the majority of our Big Ten peers and more accurately reflects his duties and responsibilities, which include oversight of the campus budget, faculty and academic affairs, undergraduate and graduate education, strategic planning, institutional research, enrollment management, online education, global and international engagement, and information technology and services.
I am grateful to Provost Coleman for leading our university in his current role. And I am confident in his ability to continue to advance our future university goals.
