The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was recently signed into law. This Act extends and renews emergency paid sick and family leave provisions, which were originally enacted by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), through September 30, 2021.
Employees may continue to be eligible for emergency paid sick leave or emergency family and medical leave if they meet the qualifying criteria. The qualifying reasons have been expanded to include an employee obtaining or recovering from a COVID-19 vaccination.
Employees who previously exhausted emergency paid sick leave and emergency family and medical leave will be eligible again on April 1, 2021.
