Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share updates to Provost’s Communications 17, 25, and 26.
A change was made to Provost Communication 17, Program for Multi-Year Contracts for Eligible Academic Staff, to permit Multi-Year Contracts (MYC) for up to five (5) years in accordance with the relevant revision to the University of Illinois Statutes. Effective August 16, 2024, and at the discretion of the unit, eligible specialized faculty can receive a MYC for up to five (5) years.
Last academic year, a Task Force was convened to align and update Provost Communication 25, Employment Guidelines for Specialized Faculty Holding Non-Tenure System Positions, and Provost Communication 26, Promotion to Teaching, Research, or Clinical Associate or Full Professor Titles. One notable revision to Provost Communication 25 is the creation of a third rank for promotion from senior instructor and senior lecturer to principal instructor and principal lecturer. In addition, these updated Communications reflect the Task Force’s recommendation to modify terms for consistency with relevant policies and procedures across all Provost Communications.
If you have questions on revisions to these Communications, please send queries to the Office of the Provost (provost@illinois.edu).
Sincerely,
John Coleman
Provost
