Since 1947, the Institute of Government and Public Affairs (IGPA) has connected scholars across the University of Illinois System with legislators, civil servants, and key decision makers in Springfield, throughout the Land of Lincoln, and beyond. As the only System-level institute dedicated to policy engagement, we connect world-class research with the state’s needs—and we support policymakers in pursuing research-driven solutions. The University of Illinois System is the people’s university, and IGPA is the people’s policy think tank.
We are launching new Research Scholar Initiatives to catalyze large-scale policy inquiries and the development of models for policy decision-making by teams of scholars across the University of Illinois System, with the ultimate goal of maximizing impactful policy scholarship and public engagement.
We are now accepting proposals to be considered for this funding cycle, which will span two years. Proposals are eligible for funding of up to $30,000 per year for two years ($60,000 total). We expect to fund two proposals before October 31, 2022.
WHO MAY APPLY: Any scholar associated with IGPA as a Collaborating Scholar or Working Group member can propose Research Scholar Initiatives and serve as sole investigator or Principal Investigator or co-Investigator of a team. Any interested applicants who are not already associated with IGPA should reach out to Director Robin Fretwell Wilson to express interest and learn how to get involved: wils@uillinois.edu.
Please read below for more information about these Initiatives and the criteria for proposals.
Proposals will be accepted via online form until September 30, 2022.
We look forward to hearing from you!
