The Pyramid Model is a proven system for helping early interventionists, childcare providers, teachers, and caregivers guide the social-emotional development of young children while improving children's ability to learn and self-regulate challenging behavior. 

• The Early Intervention Pyramid Model Practices Course (ePyramid modules) provides a foundational understanding for implementing Pyramid Model Practices through a series of self-paced, online video lessons accompanied by downloadable tools and templates.
• The Pyramid Model Touchpoints are live, group events designed to add a human touch point to the ePyramid module content and help participants implement the Pyramid Model practices. Facilitators will lead participants through reflections and action planning that are structured and inspired by the ePyramid content. 

The Pyramid Model Course and Touchpoints are designed to be completed over several months. Participants are expected to complete a specific portion of the e-module content independently and then participate in a touchpoint live event designed to help staff discuss and reflect on the lessons and ask questions while implementing the practices.

Prerequisite

Before attending Session 1, please enroll in the Early Intervention Pyramid Model Practices Course and complete the ePyramid modules as directed.

Session 1

• Agreed Upon Mission and Key Principles for Providing Early Intervention Services in Natural Environments(pdf from OSEP via ECTA Center): This document includes a "mission statement" that reflects the broad over-arching purpose of family-centered early intervention services provided under Part C of IDEA as well as Principles which are the foundations necessary to support the system of family-centered services and supports.
• Seven Key Principles: Looks Like/Doesn't Look Like (pdf from OSEP via ECTA Center): This document elaborates on the 7 key principles identified by workgroup members, listing the concepts underlying the brief statements. Each principle also has descriptive statements illustrating what the principle should "look like" in practice. There are also descriptions of what it "doesn't look like" because too often those practices are still being used.
• Early Interventionist Pyramid Practices Fidelity Instrument (EIPPFI) Field Test Edition 1.0 (pdf from NCPMI): This observation tool is designed to be used during observations of practitioners during early intervention visits with caregivers to identify goals and to measure the fidelity of implementation of Pyramid Model practices by early intervention practitioners during family coaching sessions. The tool identifies coaching goals, provides feedback, and shows growth in practice implementation. 
• Early Intervention Implementation Checklist (pdf from NCPMI): Designed to align with the EIPPFI, this tool can be used by coaches and early interventionists to support early interventionists’ self-reflection of the implementation of Pyramid practices, and prepare for shared goals and action planning.
