    This page contains archival resources related to the Moodle online learning management system used by EITP from 2014-2024.

    We do not recommend taking our courses in Moodle. Since October 1, 2024, EITP has used Canvas as our learning management system instead of Moodle. If you previously enrolled in Moodle, please know that Canvas offers a better learner experience.     Moodle (Legacy) Resources

    Moodle Online Training "Rules of the Road"

    1. Avoid blocking our emails. Make sure you mark anything that comes from Illinois.edu as safe so you can receive correspondence from us regarding your online training in your email inbox.
    2. Allow pop-up windows from "learn.illinois.edu"
    3. Time management. Plan enough time to complete a module once you start it. The length of time of module is shown in the upper left corner.
    4. Follow the steps in order. Go through the module in consecutive order without moving forward or backward.
    5. Navigate the course. Once you finish a module you can close the window and a check mark will appear next to the module to document it has been completed on the course page.  The next module will not unlock until the check mark appears next to the previous module.  If the check mark doesn't appear automatically you may need to refresh your browser.
    6. Refresh your browser after each activity to open the next activity/section. On a PC: Hold down the Control and F5 buttons simultaneously. On a Mac: Hold down the Command and R key simultaneously.
    7. Check your internet connection. Please make sure you have a strong and consistent internet connection to the best of your ability.
    8. Complete quizzes. Once you begin a quiz you will have 30 minutes to complete it.  If you do not complete it within 30 minutes you will need to start over.  A 100% passing grade is required and you will have unlimited attempts to take the quiz until you receive the passing grade.
    9. Complete these steps and you are on the road to success! If you followed all these steps and still cannot successfully navigate through or complete the course, then email eitraining@illinois.edu to inform them of the online training you are in, the difficulties you are experiencing, and the steps you have taken to try to remedy the problem.

    Pop-up Windows Blocked?

    When you are in the Moodle learning environment, you may get a message that says "It appears that pop-up windows are blocked, stopping this SCORM package from playing. Please check your browser settings before trying again."

    If you get that message, please try the following:

    1. Add “https://learn.illinois.edu/” to the list of trusted (safe) websites in your browser.  This link has instructions for how to add a website to your safe list.  There are instructions for common browsers (Chrome, Safari, and Firefox). Once you have added the site to your safe list, try to access the module/quiz again to see if it works.

    2. The other option – less preferred – is to temporarily disable the pop-up blocker on your browsers in order to take the quiz. This link has instructions for how to disable the pop-up blocker for common equipment/browsers.  After accessing and completing the module/quiz, it is recommended to re-enable the pop-up blocker so you can resume safe web browsing. 

    Online Troubleshooting

    Many issues can be resolved by refreshing your browser. To refresh your web-browser:

    • On a PC: Hold down the Control and F5keys simultaneously.
    • On a Mac: Hold down the Command and R keys simultaneously.

    I just got my Moodle account confirmation email. Now where do I go?

    Directions for AFTER you've registered for courses:
    1. You will need to go back to the registration confirmation email you received from EITP for that specific training. Then, click on the URL for the training from your registration confirmation email, which will start with https://go.illinois...
    2. Log in using the BLUE "Moodle Only" login button. Your first login will require that you set a new and unique password for your account. Then, you will be taken to your Moodle "home" page. If this is your first login, you will not have any courses listed on your "home" page.
    3. Enter the enrollment key from your registration confirmation email. (It is listed directly below the URL for the training.) Once you enter the enrollment key you will be allowed to enter the course!

    Please note: After you enter the enrollment key you will receive one more confirmation email from Moodle with a reminder of the training's URL for future access to the training.

    I don't hear any audio.

    Close the module, refresh your browser, and try to reopen the module again. This usually fixes the problem but if there is still no audio the second time you open the module then try again or perhaps try opening it using a different web browser.

    *Remember you can always read the audio transcript by clicking on the "Notes" tab in the module.

    		No
    I finished the module. Now what do I do?

    You can close the module using the red box with an "X" in it in the upper right hand corner of the window.

    Then, return to the course page and refresh your browser to open the next module or activity!

    		No
    I can't open the next module or activity that I am supposed to take.Close out the previous module that you were in, refresh your browser, and try to re-open the module again. If you still can't unlock the next module, email us.Email
    My certificate doesn't come up at the end of the training.

    For Moodle trainings, certificates at the end of the entire training, after you have completed all required activities, such a viewing modules, submitting check for understandings and completing the training evaluation. After you have done all the activities, you can download your certificate as a PDF. (Please make a note of the folder location where the certificate downloads.)

    For EITP webinars or live events, a certificate will be emailed to you directly within 2 business days of completing the training evaluation for the live online event.

    What if I don’t pass the quiz on the first attempt?The objective of the quiz is to check for understanding. When an online participant does not answer all questions correctly they will be informed as to which responses were correct and which ones were incorrect. Then the learner may review the content and make another attempt at the quiz. Currently there is no limit on the number of attempts that can be made as the objective is for the learner to have the knowledge they need to be successful in their work with children and families in early intervention.No
