The online Statement of Economic Interests filing process is quickly approaching!

The Office of the Secretary of State will begin the annual Statement of Economic Interests process with a communication to required filers in mid-March. The filing process is online with no manual paper form submission. Filers will receive an email (returning filers) or paper mailing (first time online filers) to their home address with detailed instructions for accessing the online tool to file their Statement. Please watch your email and mail for this important communication and monitor your university email for communications from the University Ethics and Compliance Office (ethicsofficer@uillinois.edu).

All Statements of Economic Interests must be filed with the Office of the Secretary of State by May 1, 2026 to avoid fines. To learn more about the process and the criteria to file, please visit the Statement of Economic Interests section of our website.

The Statement of Economic Interests must be filed online with the Secretary of State by today, May 1, 2026, to avoid late filing penalties.

The fines associated with late filing of the Statement of Economic Interests form with the Office of the Secretary of State are as follows:

• May 2-15: A flat $15 fine will be assessed to all late filers by the Secretary of State.
• May 16-filing: A rate of $100/day, in addition to the flat $15 filing penalty, will be assessed until the completed form is received by the Office of the Secretary of State.

Anyone choosing to complete a paper Statement of Economic Interests form must mail it directly to the Secretary of State.

The Supplemental Statement of Interests forms are due to the Executive Ethics Commission May 1, 2026. There are no financial penalties associated with failure to file this form as there are with the Statement of Economic Interests.
