Nicholas Burbules, a Gutgsell Professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership, presented a lecture titled “The Educational Importance of Communicative Virtues” at the Philosophy of Education Society Australasia conference on Dec. 5, 2015, at the Australian Catholic University in Melbourne.
Burbules was invited as a keynote speaker of the Inaugural Haynes' Lecture, which was named after Bruce and Felicity Haynes, both of whom are doctoral graduates of the College’s philosophy program.
Professor Burbules conducts a wide range of research—from the philosophy of education to political theory and technology and education. His current projects address the ethical and policy issues surrounding new technologies in education, realms such as virtual reality and “third spaces.”
