  • Two thumbs up? Researchers predict by 2013 we'll all be tweeting

I agree that these fellows have undercounted authors of the previous millenium. As I read your essay I immediately thought of the people who have kept diaries throughout the years. Certainly these are equivalent to blogs or tweets. Then there are ships' logs -- wouldn't those be like tweets? But then I read that "author" was defined as someone with 100 or more readers. That would leave out most diarists, I suppose.

I'm glad you exposed these two "scientists." The world population isn't even 7 billion yet where did they get 10 billion (and in four years, no less)? And you make an excellent point that copying a Bible and typing in a status update have nothing to do with each other. If scribes had to update their statuses, they could do it in seconds, too. Setting aside current world literacy levels, how could everyone on the planet tweet if there's no electricity in large portions of the world? I'm still trying to figure out whether this "study" is a joke, or whether the authors just want their 15 minutes.Kevinlinguafrancablog.wordpress.com
