Alva “Tad” LeRoy Addy, 82, of Spearfish, South Dakota, died Nov. 16. He joined the faculty of the department of mechanical and industrial engineering at the university in 1963, serving as department head from 1987-98. He held an international reputation in the fluid dynamics research community, and his research was applied to many aircraft, missiles and rockets, including the space shuttle and the Concorde.
Nancy J. Blackburn, 77, of Champaign, died Nov. 22 in Camargo, Illinois. She worked in the residence halls and retired from the university in 2004. Memorials: American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
Belle Anna Brine, 60, of Champaign, died Nov. 8 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She worked as a lead engineer at the university’s Abbott Power Plant for 30 years. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorials: The UP Center.
John Roy Campbell, 85, of Columbia, Missouri, died Nov. 17. He was hired in 1977 as the College of Agriculture’s associate dean and director of resident instruction, where he established the successful Jonathan Baldwin Turner Agricultural Merit Scholarship Program and, in 1983, was appointed as dean. Judith “Judy” Arlene Corray, 79, of St. Joseph, died Nov. 20 at Country Health Care & Rehab in Gifford, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, and a memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, both at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana. She worked at the university, where she was an active member of The Secretariat and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Terry Denny, 88, of Savoy, Illinois, died on Nov. 1 in Savoy. A memorial is planned for a future date. He began working for the university as an associate professor in 1968, and was a senior evaluator and professor at the Center for Curriculum Research and Evaluation from 1968-74. In 1974, he was promoted to professor in the departments of educational psychology and elementary and early childhood education. He served as associate dean of the College of Education from 1976-82, retiring as an emeritus professor in 1986.
Marjorie Ellen (Keagle) Lange, 86, of Monticello, Illinois, died Nov. 22 at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello. She worked at the Illini Union as an administrative assistant for many years.
Alleta A. (Sue) Moore, 88, of Paxton, Illinois, died Nov. 14. She worked as a civil service employee at the Navy ROTC unit at the university. Memorials: Paxton Federated Church.
John (Jim) J.E. Mullen, 79, of St. Joseph, Illinois, died Nov. 15 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was a firefighter for the university for 30 years. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2019, at O'Charley’s restaurant in Champaign from 1 to 3 p.m.
George Robert Young, 75, of Shelbyville, Illinois, formerly of Loda, Illinois, died Nov. 27 at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He worked for University of Illinois Extension in Ford-Iroquois counties from 1998-2001. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville.
