International Safety and Security continues to monitor the conflict in Ukraine and Russia for study and travel abroad. Campus staff will communicate with students when new developments or information arise that impacts their study or travel abroad. Future developments may necessitate specific steps, from sharing informational resources to requiring the return of travelers/suspension of future programs if the situation escalates significantly. At this time, students and others studying or traveling in Europe are not required or recommended to depart. No future study abroad programs or travel will be suspended at this time, except for those in Russia.
It is important that travelers stay informed as they prepare to depart for travel abroad and while abroad. International Safety and Security recommends the following resources for our travelers:
- We encourage study abroad participants to connect with on-site staff for localized information and assistance.
- We encourage all participants to review program materials at https://www.studyabroad.illinois.edu/ and safety abroad resources at https://www.safetyabroad.illinois.edu/ https://step.state.gov.
- All travelers can contact International Safety and Security at safetyabroad@illinois.edu.
- In the event of a time sensitive emergency, travelers can contact the UIPD at 217-333-1216 and they will connect International Safety and Security.
