Dear Colleagues,
On Dec. 16, the White House issued an update to a previous proclamation concerning entry into the United States.
International Student and Scholar Services immediately alerted our international community and later followed up with specific information for those directly affected. All messages are available in full in the ISSS Announcements blog.
As ISSS does not track international travel, we are unaware of how many active international students and scholars will be directly impacted by the restrictions on entry. For affected students and scholars unable to re-enter the United States, we have recommended that students contact their academic program, and staff and scholars contact their supervisor, to discuss program options that may be available. For affected students and scholars who may be unable to travel due to their own unique circumstances, we have provided break housing information.
Our international community continues to be subject to increasing scrutiny and distressing announcements for simply seeking to study, work, and learn at an institution outside their home country. This announcement exacerbates that anxiety, particularly for those directly impacted. We ask for your flexibility for those impacted and a willingness to explore possible alternatives to allow students to continue their studies. Thank you for your ongoing support of our international community during this incredibly challenging time.
Sincerely,
MARTIN MCFARLANE
