The Illinois State Water Survey will be participating in the 2018 Illinois State Fair in Springfield, IL with a booth shared by the Private Land Programs Tent in Conservation World. Conservation World is a 30-acre tract of rolling hills and meandering trails on the Northwest corner of the fairgrounds with exhibits for exploring outdoor Illinois - from parks, mining and forests, to wildlife, fish and endangered plants and animals. Conservation World and the Private Land Programs Tent will be open daily from Friday, August 10th to Sunday, August 19th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please come visit our booth!

The ISWS will be demonstrating how contamination moves through ground water and into private wells, how well pumps work, and providing free information on testing and maintenance of private wells.
Our Private Well Class program, found at www.PrivateWellClass.org, will be featured. In addition to having two interactive groundwater flow models that show how septic systems and private wells work, there will also be a tabletop hand pump demonstration for kids to try! Private well owners will also have the opportunity to chat with our Privatewellclass.org staff and experts. There will be information on how to sign up for the 10-lesson Private Well Class, how to get your well water tested, and other resources available for well owners who want to learn more about how to properly care for their private well.
See you at the fair!
