Fellow nursing students and faculty-
As many of you know, SNAP benefits will cut off tomorrow due to the ongoing government shutdown. This unprecedented lapse of essential services will impact tens of thousands of our fellow Chicagoans. Many will be reliant on food pantries, which are suffering from a lack of federal funding amidst increased demand. As nurses, it is our responsibility to come to the aid of our neighbors, especially when their wellbeing is in jeopardy.
Together, GSNO, UCONSA, and SNA are hosting a food drive at the College of Nursing to meet this urgent need. All donations will go to the UIC Pop-Up Pantry to provide meals to UIC students in need. A dropbox for nonperishable food and hygiene donations will be in the CON student lounge (Room 149) until November 14th, and financial donations can be made directly to the pop-up pantry here. See the attached flyers for donation guidelines and a list of requested items.
Please join us in supporting your fellow students.
