On January 24, 2025, ISSS sent the following message to all international students and scholars in follow up to a December 3, 2024 message regarding international travel:
Last month, International Student and Scholar Services issued an e-mail regarding international travel. In this, we promised to continue to carefully monitor regulatory or policy changes proposed by federal agencies, and executive actions or presidential proclamations made by the White House. When necessary, we share these updates to ensure that our students, scholars, and campus partners are aware of any new information that may impact them.
On January 20, the White House issued an executive order that may affect future international travel. This action asks various government agencies to produce a report no later than Friday, March 21, of countries that warrant a “partial or full suspension” of their citizens’ admission to the U.S. While no countries have been identified at this time, it is important for our international population to be aware that the rules regarding travel and re-entry could change over the coming weeks and months. Travelers should consider the possibility that re-entry requirements to the U.S. could change while they are overseas and should monitor university e-mails and verified news sources for the latest information.
We understand that this lack of certainty can cause anxiety, and we continue to encourage you to look after your personal and mental well being by utilizing our many campus resources.
