  • Authoritative DNS Improvements: update

As of today, the transition announced in the previous post (Authoritative DNS Improvements) is complete: dns3.illinois.edu has replaced dns1.iu.edu as our off-site authoritative nameserver (in case of an Urbana campus outage), and our authoritative zones have been removed from dns1.iu.edu.

  • Authoritative DNS Improvements

CITES Networking is pleased to announce two upcoming changes to our authoritative DNS infrastructure: dns3.illinois.edu will replace dns1.iu.edu as our off-site authoritative nameserver (in case of an Urbana campus outage), and IPv6 addresses will be added to our authoritative nameservers dns1.illinois.edu and dns2.illinois.edu.

For most customers, no action is required. However, action will be required for IT Pros who maintain slaved delegation zones.

  • Known Issue with CSV Import

When using the CSV Import mechanism to add or modify Host records, your DNS changes may not propagate from IPAM to the main nameservers dns1.illinois.edu and dns2.illinois.edu. A workaround is available; please see Known Issues for details. This bug has been reported to the vendor.

  • Campus IPAM Upgrade: August 21, 2012

On Tue Aug 21, 2012 between 5:00-7:00am, the production Infoblox grid for the campus IPAM (DNS and DHCP) service will be upgraded from its current software version (6.4.2) to the latest release from the vendor (6.5.0).

  • DNS Migration Update: What's New

CITES Networking is pleased to announce that the DNS migration is now complete and campus DNS is now running on our new IPAM ("IP Address Management") platform.

  • IPAM Training Sessions

    As previously announced (http://illinois.edu/blog/view/786/74771), campus
DNS will be migrating to the new integrated IPAM ("IP Address Management")
platform on Saturday, June 23 2012.

CITES will offer the first of three hands-on IPAM training workshop
sessions at the IT Pro Forum on June 7th. If you would like to attend this
session, be sure to register for IT Pro Forum by 5PM today at
    http://itproforum.illinois.edu/2012Spring/registration.php and choose the
1:30PM session titled "Integrated DNS and DHCP with the new IP Address
    Management (IPAM) Appliance".

Because the IT Pro Forum session is limited to 50 participants, we have
scheduled two additional training sessions which we are announcing now in
    order to help you plan.

  • Integrated IPAM Announcement

CITES Networking is pleased to announce that on Saturday, June 23, we will be migrating campus DNS to our new integrated IPAM ("IP Address Management") platform. It's finally here: our new platform will serve as the one-stop-shop for all DNS and DHCP self-service configuration.

On Tue Mar 13, 2012 between 5:30-7:00am, the production Infoblox grid for the campus DHCP service will be upgraded from its current software version (6.1.3) to the latest release from the vendor (6.3.3).
