Last year, the University of Illinois' Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications (StratCom) introduced new university brand guidelines for all university units and affiliates to follow—championed by Chancellor Robert Jones. While not a significant departure from the previous branding, there are a few additions and updates for the College of Education community to incorporate while representing Illinois in work moving forward.
What Is NOT Changing
Major Updates
- Name: The full campus name University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign should always be used on first reference or with unfamiliar audiences in writing, presentations, etc. Acceptable secondary references are Illinois and U. of I.
UIUC is no longer an acceptable secondary campus name reference. Please work on eliminating this acronym from your internal and external communications in the coming months. - University Wordmark: The brand has two wordmarks to use when referencing the Urbana-Champaign campus: the primary wordmark and the formal wordmark. The formal wordmark should be used in instances when the audience may be unfamiliar with the university.
- Brand Pillars: these are the core values on which our Illinois brand stands. Illinois' pillars represent our truths to the world. They directly, quickly, and emphatically communicate our values, culture, and purpose. They clarify our competitive advantages and describe what makes us unique. The four pillars are Innovation, Community, Momentum and Discovery.
