Congratulations to Cecilia Vaughn-Guy, currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Human Resource Development and Diversity & Equity in Education, on being selected as a 2023 Women's Congressional Policy Institute Fellow. Cecilia will begin her work in congressional offices on the Hill as a WCPI Fellow in January 2023.
The WCPI has been the home of the Congressional Fellowships on Women and Public Policy (formerly the WREI Fellowships) since 2014. The fellowships are extended each year to a select number of students pursuing a graduate degree or those who have recently completed a master’s, doctorate, or professional degree with a proven commitment to equity for women. Fellows gain practical policymaking experience and graduate credit as they work from January to July in congressional offices.
The Fellowships are designed to train potential leaders in public policy formation to examine issues from the perspective, experiences, and needs of women.
Cecilia is a third-year doctoral student in the College of Education at Illinois under the advisement of Professor David Huang. This summer she served as Illinois Scholars Program Graduate Coordinator for the campus' Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Prior to Illinois, Cecilia worked as an occupational therapist in clinical, hospital-based, and academic settings. Her research interests center on amplifying the voices of frontline healthcare workers, reimagining equitable and sustainable organizational hierarchy, and creating and sustaining organizational change through culture.
