Oscar Irving-Thomas (Tre), Ed.M. '21 EPOL, has been named the Executive Director of Immigrant Services of Champaign-Urbana.
Thomas says, "I joined this organization because of how I felt my collective professional and activist experience could truly help the communities that welcomed me with open arms,"
Previously, Tre worked for Project Read, where he was a program manager, and he has been active in the Community Coalition's other activist initiatives. Originally from Oakland, CA, he earned his BA in African-American Studies from UC Berkeley.
Immigrant Services of Champaign-Urbana was founded in 2016. Their mission is "to extend a welcoming hand to immigrant families new to our community. When families face obstacles, we are here to help; we provide them with the tools they need to build a future where their talents and skills will help them fulfill the dreams they had when they first arrived in this country."
