The Illinois Early Learning project (though a grant funded by the Illinois State Board of Education and managed by the Department of Special Education) recently released three podcasts related to childcare and how the campus' Child Development Laboratory has been impacted by, and responded to, the pandemic.
In this series, Natalie Danner of IEL speaks with three groups—the director of the Department of Human and Family Studies' CDL, a head teacher at the CDL, and a parent of a CDL child—for their distinct perspectives and experiences related to early care and education programming in the midst of a pandemic.
Podcast 1:
Dr. Brent McBride, director of the Child Development Laboratory, talks with Natalie about the impact of COVID-19 on childcare from his perspective. Brent is a professor of Human Development in the College of ACES at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Podcast 2:
In this podcast, Catherine, a head teacher at CDL, discusses teaching during COVID-19 circumstances.
Podcast 3:
Parents of children who attend the CDL share with Natalie their experiences of care during this unusual time.
The focus and intent of these podcasts is to give insight into some of the things CDL has been doing to adapt during these very challenging times, and to share some of the lessons learned over the past 10 months with the early care and education community throughout Illinois.
