Natalie Coleman, B.S. '02, is a current doctoral candidate in EPOl and founder of After the Peanut, a company based on the core idea of providing STEM educational opportunities for students in underserved communities.
During the pandemic, and while pursuing her Ph.D. Coleman has helped meet educational needs by providing one-on-one online tutoring through After the Peanut. Her Plainfield-based company's success has led to a partnership with Aetna Better Health of Illinois to provide tutoring for K-12 students across the state of Illinois.
Another major initiative for Coleman and her STEM-focused organization is a 10-week Summer STEAM Camp in 2021 hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Open to third to 12th graders, the camp is designed to keep students engaged with innovative weekly themes including coding, computer programming, and more.
