As part of the 2016 Youth Literature Festival, Champaign-Urbana residents and everyone from the surrounding area are invited to celebrate youth literature at the Oct. 22 Community Day Celebration. The family-oriented event is free and open to the public and takes place at:
The I-Hotel and Conference Center (1900 S. First St., Champaign)
10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Author readings, book signings, all-day puppet shows, live music, art displays, and a variety of hands-on activities for children will all be part of the fun!
Don’t miss the 1 p.m. presentation of the puppet show Peter and the Wolf, presented by members of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and the Central Illinois Puppetry Guild.
In addition, members of the Central Illinois Puppetry Guild—Elizabeth Goldsmith-Conley, Charmaine LeCesne, Ginger Lozar, Anne Newman, and Mike and Jenna O’Brien—will be at the event all day to bring to life their passion for puppetry and storytelling through special shows that have entertained children since 1989.
