Congratulations to professor emeritus James Rounds on having his article, Adolescent vocational interests predict early career success: Two 12-year longitudinal studies, named one of the top-10 most cited articles by Applied Psychology between January 2022 and December 2023.
The article publishes findings from two 12-year studies of interest changes relative to stable interest levels for predicting career outcomes. The study assessed the long-term predictive power of adolescent interest levels and interest growth for five career outcomes: degree attainment, occupational prestige, income, and career- and job satisfaction.
Rounds was an author of the article along with colleagues from the University of Illinois Department of Psychology and scholars from the University of Houston, the University of Nevada-Reno, and the University of Iceland, Reykjavik.
