Shana Calhoun, '21 SPED, was featured by Champaign's WCIA 3 News for her dedication to ensuring that students have everything they need.
For Calhoun, that could be anything from ensuring that students have life skills training or have necessary care items and clothing for presentations or interviews or even making sure that students feel loved on a daily basis.
Calhoun has created spaces in her classroom for students to drop in on Wednesdays to get anything they need, free of charge. “Honestly, my favorite part about working with them is seeing them grow,” she told WCIA 3. “Seeing them develop skills that may not have necessarily had when they came in.”
