VRchaeology is a Virtual Reality (VR) experience designed to introduce students to archaeology through immersive technology. This experience has been offered as a class at the university, and we are currently hoping to improve its accessibility for all students on campus––particularly those who use wheelchairs or identify as having a mobile/physical disability.
We are hiring (undergrads, grad students, or non-students!) programmers who are interested in game design and development to work on an NSF-supported project to create hardware, software, and instructional solutions to enable wheelchair users to fully participate in educational VR activities.
All programming is done in Unreal Engine so experience with Unreal or Unity is preferable but not required. If you would like to learn Unreal, we will train you! Familiarity with universal design for learning is also a plus. If you are interested, please contact associate professor Laura Shackelford at llshacke@illinois.edu.
