Nidia Ruedas-Gracia, assistant professor Educational Psychology, will deliver the keynote speech for First-Gen Week at Texas State University.
Ruedas-Gracia's keynote address, titled "The FLI Ride: Developing a First-Generation/Low-Income Story of Success," will outline how first-generation/low-income college students are trailblazers and can customize their college experience with the support of their institution for optimal success.
Dr. Ruedas-Gracia will share her journey as an FLI college student and how this identity helped her land her current career as an assistant professor. Dr. Ruedas-Gracia will describe her current research on the sense of belonging and how it's designed to foster success among minoritized college students, including FLI students and their different identities.
Ruedas-Gracia's keynote will be held at the LBJ Student Center Ballroom at Texas State on November 9.
