The College of Education is proud to announce that Gloriana González, professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, has been selected as a University Scholar starting in AY 2022-23.
The University Scholars Program, which is three years in length, was created to honor and reward outstanding faculty members within the University of Illinois System. González was nominated for this award by her peers and selected from a pool of extremely talented nominees. As a University Scholar, González joins a small company of distinguished colleagues who have received this designation as members of the faculty in recognition of their outstanding scholarly contributions. The current University Scholars cohort includes González's colleague in the College of Education, Dr. Meghan Burke, from the Department of Special Education.
The award consists of an allocation of $15,000 each year to González for the next three years starting with AY 2022-23. Later this year, the Urbana campus will release an official announcement via the UI News Bureau of González's selection as a University Scholar, and will hold an event to recognize and honor faculty awardees. More details on this will be shared with College of Education audiences when it becomes available.
