The National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA) which is co-affiliated with the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at Indiana University recently recognized seven higher education institutions for their Excellence in Assessment (EIA). The EIA Designation – the first national initiative of its kind – recognizes colleges and universities that successfully integrate assessment practices across the institution, provide evidence of student learning outcomes to stakeholders, and utilize assessment results to guide institutional decision-making and improve student performance.
Auburn University, Bucknell University, Finger Lakes Community College, Lindenwood University, Missouri State University, Sam Houston State University, and the University of Northern Iowa join three prior classes for a grand total of 23 designees to date. Please join us in recognizing and congratulating these institutions for their commitment to the comprehensive assessment of student learning outcomes as a means to drive internal improvement and advance student success. This year Finger Lakes Community College received the designation of Sustained Excellence in Assessment.
The EIA designation is sponsored by NILOA, the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA), a joint initiative of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), and the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). Application materials for the EIA Class of 2020 will be available in December of 2019.
