The Military Families Learning Network (MFLN), was honored recently at the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS) 85th annual session, whose theme was "Nurturing the Richness of Lifelong Learning". The MFLN received the First Place: National, First Place: North Central Region, and First Place: Minnesota Affiliate awards.
MFLN was recognized for their three-day 2018 virtual conference, Cultural Competency: Awareness. Action, and Advocacy which featured six webinar sessions with 579 participants, storytelling journals and multiple interactive strategies. The Mary W. Wells Memorial Diversity Award is presented in support of the Cooperative Extension System emphasis on diversity and pluralism—a national program to respond to the changing workforce, population, and Extension audiences. The award is named to honor the contributions to diversity for the association and profession by Mary Wells, NEAFCS past president. MFLN's commitment to meeting the needs of individuals, families and communities is exemplary. Their three-day conference was an extraordinary collaborative effort, reaching many military family service providers!
Congratulations to Robyn DiPietro-Wells, Family Development Early Intervention (FDEI) program coordinator for MFLN, as well as project PI Amy Santos and co-PI Michaelene Ostrosky and the rest of the MFLN team!
