In 2015, Barb and E.L. Gentry created a scholarship with their IRA gift to support graduate students within the College of Education.
"The scholarship was important to us, and we wanted to support the next generation of educational leaders and relieve some of the financial burden of attaining their graduate degree," say the Gentrys. "Funding the scholarship from our IRA made the process really simple and saved significant taxes. We have enjoyed meeting the students we have supported, and look forward to those we will meet in the future."
The University of Illinois holds a special place for both E.L. and Barb. E.L. worked for the university for over 30 years in Budget and Resource Planning and Barb holds three degrees from the College of Education in the teaching of mathematics.
