Congratulations to Magen Rooney-Kron, PhD student in Special Education, for receiving the 2020 Robert P. Larsen Grant for Research in Career Development for her research, "Instruction and Engagement of Students with Intellectual Disability and Work-Based Learning."
The award was created in memory of Bob Larsen, the first career counselor at the University of Illinois, to recognize his life-long commitment to and support of career counseling. The Career Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign awards this grant to qualifying graduate students to support research that addresses topics relevant to the field of career development and that will increase knowledge related to career and vocational topics.
While the 2020 event has been postponed, typically each spring semester The Career Center hosts a Larsen Symposium, which is an opportunity for Larsen Grant winners to share their research findings with career development practitioners and researchers from the University of Illinois Community. Find more information about the award here.
On behalf of the Dean's Office, we are proud of Ms. Rooney-Kron's recognition in research excellence, and appreciate her work to represent the College in a positive and remarkable way.
