  • Undergraduate Research Assistant Needed: Laboratory of Optical Physics and Engineering

    Project Description: Project involves assembling a high power pulse excimer laser and conducting spectroscopy experiment with the excimer laser (at least two (2) assistants will be needed).

    Requirements

    Must have taken ECE 455: Optical Electronics
    ECE or physics major preferred
    Experience with laser preferred
    Laser safety certificate is required before starting with research (Successful applicants will be given guidance to obtain the certificate)

  • Undergraduate Research Internship (Center For Energy Efficient Electronics Science)

    Application for 2017 E3S REU Now Available!

    The Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Science  (E3S) combines a broad research and education approach to revolutionize two major fundamental components of digital information processing systems: the communications logic switch and the short-medium range communication of information between logic elements. 

    The 2017 E3S Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program will be from June 3 - August 5, 2017 with projects in exciting research areas: nanoelectronics, nanomechanics, nanophotonics, and nanomagnetics.

    Program Benefits

    9-weeks of research experience
    Hands-on research guided by faculty mentors and graduate students
    Graduate school advising and subsidized GRE prep course
    Guest speakers, lab tours, and field trips
    $4,000 stipend plus room and board (dependent upon selected campus)
    Travel allowance (up to $600)

    Eligibility

    Must be a United States citizen, national, or permanent resident to apply. International students are NOT eligible for this program.
    Sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors enrolled in four year colleges and universities in the United States
    Engineering and Physical Science majors
    3.25 grade point average or higher
    No prior research experience required

    Students who are first in their family to go to college, come from low-income backgrounds, are from underserved communities, and/or are women and/or veterans are encouraged to apply.

    The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applicants for our summer 2022 REU program!

  • University of Arkansas - Separations and Commercialization ChemE REU

    Application Deadline: Tuesday, February 28, 2023

    Majors: chemical engineering, bioengineering, biology, chemistry, materials science, physics, or related majors are welcome to apply!

    The program runs from May 22, 2023- July 28, 2023. 

    The Separations & Commercialization REU program will offer research experiences in laboratories that are working towards the goals of improving separation efficiency and reducing separation processing costs to a diverse group of undergraduate students. Participants will interact with faculty and graduate students to plan and execute a 10-week research project. A unique component of this REU program is the commercialization assessment training (CAT) series that will prepare them to think about the potential commercialization of traditional hypothesis-driven research early in the process. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with industry leaders in the separation field through the CAT series, industrial mentorships, as well as industrial site visits locally and in Texas.
