    What: The Community College Internships (CCI) and Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) programs are now accepting applications for spring 2023! These programs, sponsored and managed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science’s Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) in collaboration with DOE national laboratories, provide internship opportunities at national labs for college students and recent graduates.

    The participant will engage and interact closely with Building Technologies Office (BTO) staff and National laboratory scientists on research and development of technology for building systems integration and optimization to produce significant energy savings in the commercial real estate market. During their appointment, participants undergo a full immersion experience in Commercial Building Initiative's (CBI) technical projects and activities, interacting with experts in academia, industry and at the national labs.  Participants may also engage with other programs at the Department of Energy and across the Federal government.

    The Department of Energy’s Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) is now accepting applications for the 2023 EERE Science, Technology and Policy Opportunity - Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO). As a member of the team, you will engage and interact closely with Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) staff and National Laboratory scientists on research and development of technology for building systems integration and optimization to produce significant energy savings in the commercial real estate market.

    SETO applications are reviewed (and offers are made) two times per year with an application deadline for this opportunity on June 15th, 2023. Recommendations are due June 18th, 2023, so make sure your recommendations have been received by then in order for your application to be considered. The application review process takes approximately 3-4 months.

  • APS/IBM Research Internship for Undergraduate Women: deadline February 1, 2010

    The internships are salaried positions typically 10 weeks long at one of three IBM research locations (San Jose, CA, Austin, TX, or Yorktown Heights, NY), and give the opportunity to work closely with an IBM mentor. The Watson lab has a full range of research, as does the Almaden lab, and the Austin lab focuses on software and systems. Research areas of the internship are individually chosen so as to optimize the match between the skills and interests of the student, and the ongoing research programs of the laboratory. Applications for summer 2010 will be due February 1, 2010, and notification of results will begin in early April. Eligibility * Must be female with sophomore or junior standing at a U.S. college or university at the time of application * Must be majoring in chemistry, physics, materials science or engineering, computer science or engineering, chemical, electrical, mechanical engineering * Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA * No citizenship restriction.

    FOCUS is an intensive, semester-long program created to aid in eliminating the gap in post-graduation outcomes and starting salaries between underrepresented, first-generation students and their peers to positively impact their career trajectory, earnings potential, and economic security for years to come.

    The FOCUS Program runs between September 20 - November 16, 2023, and FOCUS scholars will receive $1,000 for their participation in the program.

    The Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE) is now accepting applications for CARE Tutors for the Spring 2024 semester.  

    Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

  • Biomedical Engineering Summer Internship Program (BESIP)

    Application for BESIP 2017 is now open!

    The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) sponsored Biomedical Engineering Summer Internship (BESIP) is for undergraduate biomedical engineering students who have completed their junior year of college. The 10-week program, under the guidance of Dr. Robert Lutz, BESIP Program Director, is scheduled from June 5, 2017 to August 11, 2017. The internship will allow rising senior bioengineering students to participate in cutting-edge biomedical research projects under the mentorship of world-class scientists in NIH laboratories in Bethesda, MD.

    Eligibility

    Applicant must have completed at least three years (6 semesters or 9 quarters) of undergraduate study in a biomedical engineering or bioengineering degree program by the start of the 2017 summer.Applicant must plan to be returning to undergraduate school for at least one term following the summer BESIP.Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident attending college in the U.S.Because of housing arrangements, the structure of the program, the orientation procedures and the planned group activities, the student must be present on the Bethesda campus to participate in the entire ten-week program between June 5 and August 11, 2017.

    The Cargill Global Scholars Program provides financial support ($2,500 for up to three years) and leadership development opportunities through seminars, networking events, and a one-on-one mentoring program. These enrichment activities have been designed to help foster and enhance the Cargill Global Scholars’ leadership potential and critical thinking skills, and equip them with the tools necessary for becoming global leaders and decisions makers.

    Scholarships will be awarded to talented, high performing university students who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement and leadership potential and study in a field relevant to Cargill’s world of food, agriculture and risk management.

    Who Can Apply?

    Applicants to the Cargill Global Scholars program must:

    1. Be a citizen or permanent legal resident of Brazil, China, India, Russia or the United States.
    2. Attend a partner university in the country of citizenship or permanent legal residency
    3. Be a first or second year university student
    4. Demonstrate high academic performance
    5. Demonstrate leadership potential

    Preference will be given to applicants who:

    1. Demonstrate financial need
    2. Specialize in fields of study that are identified as preferred fields (see each country’s guidelines)

  • Cargill Global Scholars Program

    Cargill Global Scholars receive an annual scholarship award of $2,500 for up to two years, participate in a fully-funded three-day leadership seminar during the first year of the program and a fully funded Global Leadership Seminar to be held at one of Cargill’s global locations during the second year of the program, and are paired with a Cargill leader who will serve as a mentor.

  • Carnegie Mellon EPP MS Program

    This year, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Department of Engineering and Public Policy will add 12 new students to its professional Master’s degree program in Engineering and Public Policy (EPP).  CMU’s EPP Master’s program provides students with the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and public policy, addressing the implications of emerging technologies on organizations and society.  EPP students go on to global careers in government, business, consulting, academia, and nonprofits.  The program is particularly strong in the following areas:  energy systems, transportation, climate and environment, information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, risk analysis, and technology innovation policy.
