CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is holding Illini Fest, its first-ever downtown Chicago festival.
When and where: Thursday, July 18 from 3-6 p.m. in the Park Grill Plaza of Millennium Park.
Why: Bringing the U. of I. experience to the more than 150,000 Fighting Illini alumni in Chicagoland.
What: More than 40 displays and interactive experiences from colleges and units, including robots, photo booth, virtual reality experience, solar telescope.
Names: Chancellor Robert Jones, Athletic Director Josh Whitman and football Coach Lovie Smith will mingle, and men’s basketball player Giorgi Bezhanishvili will give a dance workshop. (Yes, a dance workshop.)
Freebies: Food and beverage; full-size Illini flags to the first 1,000 guests.
