    Serina Taluja scanned thousands of specimens belonging to the Illinois Natural History Survey Herbarium.

    As an undergraduate student at Illinois, Serina Taluja scanned thousands of specimens belonging to the Illinois Natural History Survey Herbarium. Her work contributed to a National Science Foundation effort to preserve about 2 million historic plant specimens in digital form.

    According to the NSF, “The ‘Endless Forms’ Thematic Collections Network, composed of 17 collaborating U.S. herbaria from 11 states, will digitize approximately 2 million specimens belonging to some of the most interesting plant species on Earth.”

    The Illinois Natural History Survey is a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the U. of I.
