Katie Murphy, RN, is the President of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, the largest union and professional association of registered nurses and health professionals in the state, representing 25,000 members working in 85 health care facilities. Before being elected President in 2020, Katie represented MNA members on the Board of Directors for over ten years and has been a strong advocate for protecting nurses and health care workers even longer than that. Katie has also held appointed and elective office in Framingham.
Katie brings with her decades of firsthand experience, including her current role as a Registered Nurse on the front lines of this pandemic in the Special Pathogens Units at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She graduated with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Vermont College in 1975, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston University in 1982, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Framingham State in 2012. She is currently certified as a Critical Care Nurse and a Neuroscience Nurse.
