We are excited to share an initiative aimed at strengthening representation, mentorship, and professional development within our nursing community: the formation of a Men in Nursing under the UIH- AAMN Chapter.
Men in Nursing is a national organization dedicated to supporting men pursuing careers in nursing through advocacy, education, leadership development, and community. With an already established chapter with UIH it would provide students with access to valuable opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
Why Men in Nursing?
• Professional Connections & Mentorship
Membership provides access to a broad network of nursing students, educators, practicing nurses, advanced practice providers, and nurse leaders. Through the Men in Nursing foundation and affiliated chapters, members gain mentorship, career guidance, and exposure to diverse nursing pathways.
• Leadership & Career Development
The organization emphasizes leadership, advocacy, and professional growth. Chapter involvement helps members build resumes, develop communication and organizational skills, and engage in service projects that positively impact healthcare and the community.
• Principles of Men in Nursing
Men in Nursing is founded on the principles of inclusivity, equity, professionalism, and excellence in nursing care. The organization works to break stereotypes, promote diversity in the workforce, and support all nurses in delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
We are currently gauging interest in starting a chapter and welcoming students who are interested in leadership roles, general membership, or simply learning more about what Men in Nursing has to offer.
If you are interested in being part of this initiative or would like additional information, please email me at
teodoro3@uic.edu . Further details regarding interest meetings and next steps will be shared soon.
Thank you for your time and support as we work to build a strong, inclusive nursing community.
Sincerely,
Jeremiah Matthan Teodoro
