The University of Illinois Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) Campus Action club is offering in-person and virtual internship and volunteer opportunities for students who want to learn organizing skills and make a difference in the community. The student activist group, part of a nationwide network on more than 100 campuses, works on issues like environmental protection, college affordability, and non-partisan voter registration. Recently PIRG students helped pass bans on single-use plastics in more than 17 states. Interns spend 10-15 hours a week training, recruiting volunteers, and working on projects and campaigns.
