  • The Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Science (E3S) Internship Programs at UC Berkeley, MIT, and Stanford: June 9 - August 10, 2013; Application Deadline is February 1, 2013

    This 9 week internship is aimed at rising sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors who are engineering and physical science majors with a 3.25 GPA or better and an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in science and engineering.     The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) sponsored Biomedical Engineering Summer Internship (BESIP) is for undergraduate biomedical engineering students who have completed their junior year of college.     The Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Science  (E3S) combines a broad research and education approach to revolutionize two major fundamental components of digital information processing systems: the communications logic switch and the short-medium range communication of information between logic elements. 

    The 2017 E3S Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program will be from June 3 - August 5, 2017 with projects in exciting research areas: nanoelectronics, nanomechanics, nanophotonics, and nanomagnetics.

  • Undergraduate Research Assistant Needed: Civil and Environmental Engineering

    Project Description: 

    The research project aims to determine which farm field management techniques are best at mitigating agricultural nitrogen losses associated with fertilization. To accomplish this, we collect and analyze air, water, and soil samples from fields utilizing different field management (fertilization rates, tillage, and cover cropping).

    Requirements

    The student should be interested and capable of spending time in the field. Field duties will include carrying equipment; installing sampling systems; collecting air, water, and soil samples; and maintaining detailed field notes. The student will need to have at least one morning each week available to dedicate to field work.

    *Preference for students within Civil and Environmental Engineering and/or those considering graduate school

  • Illinois Science of Security (SoS) Summer Internship

    The Information Trust Institute (ITI) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, part of the NSA Science of Security Lablet program, invites applications for a unique research experience for students. Selected applicants will spend eight weeks at ITI pursuing a research program of their own design, under the mentorship of ITI faculty and/or staff. The objective will be to advance research, which may be submitted for a poster session at the next HotSoS Science of Security Symposium. In addition to the research, the summer internship program will include weekly seminars and instruction regarding research issues such as ethics, research writing, presenting, creating posters, and grad school preparation.

    The program committee will select participants based on academic record and a 5-page proposal outlining the proposed research project. Both domestic and international students studying at a U.S. university are eligible to apply. Selected applicants will have lodging provided and receive a stipend and meal allowance. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign students are not eligible housing or a meal allowance.

    This is a special summer work experience opportunity for NACME Scholars.

    Candidates selected to attend the Summit will be notified via email no later than September 21st

    * Note: 1) U.S. Citizen or National 2) U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident 3) Person granted refugee status in the U.S. 4) Person granted asylee status in the U.S. 5) A special agricultural worker under section 210 or 6) a beneficiary of legalization through an amnesty program under section 245A of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act.

    Are you an Illinois undergraduate looking for your next internship experience? The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) is looking for highly motivated, creative students to work on hands-on research projects with guidance from NCSA staff and faculty affiliates. The center will offer a limited number of paid SPIN (Students Pushing INnovation) internships during the Summer 2018 session. The SPIN projects are open to students in any major and any year of study; international students can apply. Want to learn more? Come to our SPIN Open House! You’ll get to meet our NCSA staff and faculty affiliates and learn more about the different projects you could be a part of. Refreshments will be provided.
